Tiff is a dog girl in Rachel’s year at Roseville High School, and the girl Jordan has been chasing since long before the comic caught up with him. She will happily take the limo ride, the dinners and the party invitation, but when Jordan calls lunch a date, she corrects him. His friends can’t stand her, Jordan thinks she is his soulmate, and Tiff herself would rather be wherever Enrique is.

Personality

Most times Tiff turns up, her phone is out, her expression is flat, and her attention is somewhere else entirely, usually on a different party or a different boy. She isn’t rude about it, exactly. She just doesn’t pretend, and a direct question gets a direct answer whether or not anybody wanted one. None of this means she can’t enjoy herself. She can enjoy herself just fine without Jordan in the room, and Jordan is in the room a lot.

Madison’s birthday party barely registers as Tiff delivers her verdict.

Her phone does most of her talking for her. She answers Jessica’s questions in the prom limo without looking up from it,[1] and she keeps scrolling while Jordan reaches for her shoulder.[2] At Madison’s birthday she sits through Jessica shouting about her without any sign of having heard, then announces “I’m bored.” and walks out.[3] Even when Jordan is furious on her behalf over the school play, she checks her screen rather than the argument.[4] Veronica’s own summary of the pairing is that Tiff simply does not care about him.[5]

Tiff finds Paulo and Daisy’s new romance revoltingly predictable.

When Tiff does speak, she says exactly what she means. She arrives at Burger-Tron announcing that the outing is not a date and that she only came for the new burger,[6] and she leaves on the same note once she has tried it.[7] Romance in general gets short shrift from her. Paulo and Daisy flirting in line are “gross”,[8] Paulo’s speech about spending a lifetime with Daisy earns an “Oh, barf.”,[9] and a boy who grovels is, in her view, not a boy anybody should want.[10] Veronica describes her as not the romantic type at all, a girl who wants to have fun and nothing more complicated than that.[11] Her closest thing to evasiveness is telling the limo there is “no reason” for wanting Enrique picked up, which nobody believes for a second.[1]

Being disliked doesn’t cost Tiff any sleep either. When Jordan drags her over to demand an apology for the school play, Tiff finds the supposed insult funny, takes the bossy girl in charge as a compliment, and thanks Jessica for it.[4] Veronica has called her canonically in complete control and not remotely bothered by what anyone thinks.[12] None of this makes her a hermit. She is a laughing, beer-in-hand fixture of Rachel’s birthday party, and she winks at Matt on the dance floor.[13][14] She has a Vivian to run off to at prom[2] and a lunch table of her own.[15] Her concern can be just as blunt. At the lockers, she stops mid-conversation to ask a bandaged Jordan what on earth happened, wishes him well, and turns straight back to the boy she was talking to.[16]

Appearance

In Total Recall, Tiff’s hair gets its own special effect.

Tiff is a dog girl with long hair, long enough to hold a pair of clips and, in Jordan’s memories, to blow gently in a breeze of its own.[17][18] Her most reliable accessory is her cell phone, which turns up through most of her speaking appearances and is usually in her hand or within reach.[19][3][9] Her usual expression is a flat, half-lidded lack of interest, and Veronica has joked that the giddy smile at Rachel’s party is down to Jordan not being there.[20]

Her wardrobe gets a bit more attention than most of Rachel’s friends receive. She wears a strapless teal dress with matching hair clips to junior prom,[17] and a black jacket over a blue dress for the Burger-Tron outing.[6] The latter comes from a chapter whose outfits were designed with a 2009 look in mind; Veronica used friends’ high-school photos for inspiration while working them out.[21] She started life as one of several beta designs Veronica drew up for Rachel’s friends in Happy Hour, without necessarily planning to use them again.[20]

Significant events

Tiff’s first published main-comic appearance is a silent one. She turns up in Pillow Talk, seated in the main cast’s homeroom and sticking her tongue out at Paulo.[22] Published later, the members-only side story Love Letters gives her another school-era cameo at the lunch table with Rachel, Jessica, Matt and Jordan, phone in hand while Jordan grins at her.[19] By Dinner Time she is a fixture of Jordan’s life that his family already knows about, and Lucy is appalled to hear he is still with her.[23]

Later, she joins Rachel’s group for some of its bigger outings. She is one of the cheerfully drunk guests at Rachel’s birthday party in Happy Hour, joining the chorus for the cake and dancing with the rest of the crowd.[13][24][14] In Total Recall she rides to junior prom in Rachel’s limo as Jordan’s date and is gone to another party before the night is done.[1][25] In the book-exclusive follow-up There’s a Chance, she runs into a bandaged Jordan by the lockers and briefly asks after him before going back to her conversation.[16]

Jordan keeps trying to bring Tiff into the group. Jessica refuses to make room for her at the lunch table in Table for One,[26] and Tiff gets bored of Madison’s birthday at the Bowling alley in Fair Game and leaves on the back of a stranger’s motorcycle.[3][27] In Method Acting Jordan discovers that Jessica’s play villain borrowed from both Tiff and Tess, and Tiff takes the comparison far better than he does.[28][4] She then tells him not to follow her to her own table.[15]

In Made Fresh, the matter finally gets settled. Jordan sets up a Saturday lunch at Burger-Tron with Paulo and Daisy as backup, and Tiff makes it clear on the doorstep that this is not a date.[6] By the end of the meal she has made it unmistakable that she does not return his feelings, thanks him for lunch, and walks out after saying Enrique is her ride.[10][7] Jordan goes home single, and his family lets him know they never rooted for the pair anyway.[29][30]

Jordan

Tiff finds Jordan’s vision of forever rather pathetic in Made Fresh.

Jordan treats his outings with Tiff as steps toward becoming soulmates. Lucy is already groaning about her brother “still” being with Tiff back in Dinner Time,[23] so the arrangement is a well-worn one by the time the comic shows it. Asked what he sees in her, Jordan can offer that she’s pretty and that her hair smells nice.[18] His own rose-tinted memories of their dates have her flirting with the waiter while he pays the bill and him carrying stacks of her shopping.[18] Total Recall shows the arrangement live. She spends the limo ride asking to collect Enrique,[1] sidesteps Jordan’s arm the moment the door opens to go and see Vivian,[2] and leaves the prom for a better party. Jessica’s diagnosis is that “She just wanted the limo ride, dude.”[25] Paulo’s is blunter, and involves the name Sandy.[18]

Every crumb she drops, Jordan swallows whole. When she stops at the lockers to ask why he’s covered in bandages and wishes him well, he takes it as proof that she really cares about him.[16][31] When she leaves Madison’s birthday on a stranger’s motorcycle while he calls after her, he tells the room she has gone to get snacks.[27][32] Later that night he is bellowing at Paulo that the two of them are meant to be.[33] By Double Down he is asking Paulo how one goes about getting over a girl at all.[34] Through all of it he remains the one person consistently defending her in the group, insisting to Jessica that Tiff isn’t like that,[2] and to Madison that he, at least, likes her.[35]

Jordan finally puts the question to her directly over lunch in Made Fresh. Wouldn’t she want a guy who wants to spend forever with her? No, says Tiff, and adds that it “Seems kinda pathetic to me.”[9] She thanks him for lunch and leaves after saying Enrique is giving her a ride,[10][7] and he goes home conceding that he is back to being single.[29] Veronica describes the pair as a running joke rather than anything truly malicious,[5] and as of 2026 she considers their story done, though both of them can still appear.[36]

Jessica

Jessica has given Tiff SO many chances, according to Jessica.

Jessica openly tells Jordan what she thinks Tiff is doing. It’s Jessica who tells Jordan at prom that Tiff is never going to like him, that a few paid-for dinners don’t make a relationship, and that his date is probably off making out with Enrique.[2] When Jordan asks to make room for Tiff at the lunch table in Table for One, Jessica’s entire answer is “Can we not”.[26] Tiff’s arrival at Madison’s birthday in Fair Game sends Jessica into a shouting fit about why she was invited at all, and she insists she gave Tiff plenty of chances.[3] Tiff gives no sign of registering any of it.

Jessica’s grudge eventually finds its way into the script of the school play. In Method Acting she admits that she asked Marcie to play Teagan Thatchit because her hair reminded her a little of Tiff’s, then concedes that Teagan may be a mix of Tiff and Tess.[28] Jordan drags Tiff over to demand an apology. Tiff looks up from her phone, says she “thought it was pretty funny”, points out that the cool bossy girl was the one running things, and thanks Jess, which leaves Jessica more relieved than anything.[4] Jessica killed Teagan off anyway, and when Jordan complains about it in Participation Trophy, Madison explains that nobody likes Tiff.[35]

Minor relationships

Paulo

Paulo takes Tiff’s verdict personally.

Paulo has appointed himself the friend group’s commentator on Tiff, mostly for Jordan’s benefit. Their first shared panel has her sticking her tongue out at him in homeroom,[22] and at prom he coins the “gold-diggin’ bitches” verdict and later repeats it to Jordan.[37][33] Tiff gives as good as she gets. On the Burger-Tron double date she mocks his devotion to Daisy and laughs out loud when Daisy calls his bluff,[9][10] and afterwards he grants her a point in his own way, telling Jordan that “Even Tiff knows that” groveling doesn’t work.[38]

Daisy

Daisy informs Tiff that Jordan loves her, and gets a “So?” for her trouble in Made Fresh.

Daisy is the one who finally argues Jordan’s case to Tiff’s face, and she gets nowhere. She has doubts about the Burger-Tron lunch from the moment Jordan proposes it,[39] and when Tiff gets up to leave, Daisy shouts after her that Jordan loves her. Tiff answers with “So?” and “Takes two to tango.”[7] Daisy then turns on Jordan, telling him that Tiff doesn’t like him back and accusing Tiff of taking advantage of him.[40]

  • The Jordan-and-Tiff dynamic is older than Bittersweet Candy Bowl itself. Veronica’s commentary says it was covered heavily in the series she drew at twelve years old.[1]
  • Veronica’s commentary on the prom chapter wonders whether Jordan and Tiff’s “absolute shallowness makes them the ultimate otp”.[18]
  • Her debut page in Pillow Talk was the first fully digital BCB page, and Veronica notes it went through many redraws afterwards. It also seats Tiff in the main cast’s homeroom, an oddity beside her later association with Jordan and Rachel’s cohort.[22][1]
  • Enrique is mentioned four times in released dialogue: first by Tiff in the prom limo, then by Jessica at prom, by Tiff again at Burger-Tron, and finally by Paulo.[1][2][10][40] Veronica says he organises the cool parties Tiff likes attending, and that Tiff hasn’t necessarily had a boyfriend before, only flings and people she has liked.[11]
  • Her one family reference is a brother who told her the Stardust burger was something special. She disagreed.[10]
