Ships Ahoy, Season Three is a Bittersweet Club International-exclusive anthology of ten one-page vignettes, each built around a different pairing from the cast. They contradict one another by design: some are couples the comic actually has, some are couples it never will, and some are jokes about the idea of the pairing itself.

Pairings

Sue’s tutoring session gets exactly nowhere.

1. Paulo and Sue: Sue tries to tutor Paulo, who keeps flirting instead.
2. Abbey and Molly: the two are siblings. The strip does not present them as a couple.
3. David and Abbey: David appoints himself Abbey’s post-breakup wingman.
4. Rodrigo and Lani Amalu: Rodrigo arrives for a parent-teacher meeting with Lani.
5. Paulo and Mike: Mike offers Paulo a taste of his strawberry ice cream.
6. Lucy’s parents: Harvey gives a post-race interview after another win. Carol, Lucy and Jordan watch.
7. Paulo and Jasmine: a full-body whale costume, worn in the name of charity.
8. Jordan and Rachel: Jordan plays basketball as Rachel cheers him on.
9. Rodrigo and David’s mom: David’s mom thanks Rodrigo for hosting David over the years.
10. Augustus and Abbey: Abbey confronts Augustus over his reaction to Abbey and Daisy’s breakup.

Trivia & observations

• The Ships Ahoy strips were drawn for Weekly Roundup, the Bittersweet Candy Bowl newsletter, and first went out to subscribers between 2018 and 2021. They were later collected into seasons and remastered for the Bittersweet Club International Members’ Library.
• The strips carry the captions “Ships Ahoy! #30” through “#39”, picking the running count up right after Ships Ahoy, Season Two ended on #29. Ships Ahoy, Season Four takes the count on from #40.
• Paulo appears in three different pairing strips with Sue, Mike and Jasmine within the same collection.
• Rodrigo headlines two of the ten strips. The main comic establishes him as Paulo’s single father.
• The strip’s prompt names Abbey and his younger adoptive sister, Molly.
• David’s mom spends her whole strip in silhouette and still calls her son “Davie”, just as she did in Onwards to Adventure.
• Mike offers Paulo strawberry ice cream in this collection. In the main comic, he drinks strawberry milk at lunch.

• Love Again: Abbey ends his relationship with Daisy in the middle of the cafeteria there, and David greets the news with “Worst ship SUNK!” In this season, David offers to be Abbey’s wingman after the breakup, while Abbey confronts Augustus about it in a separate strip.
