Out of Ideas is a Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic in which Molly’s scout troop is assigned to make “an interesting BCI comic” for a very coveted badge. Molly has no idea what that means, and finding someone who can explain it turns out to be a taller order than she expected.

Partial synopsis

The Scoutmaster opens the meeting with a very important task that comes with a coveted badge. Sparkles surround her announcement that the scouts have to make “an interesting BCI comic”. The troop stares back at her in dumbfounded silence.[1]

At Abbey’s house, Molly asks him what BCI means. She shouts down his guess of “Brain-computer interface” as far too nerdy.[2] She then asks Mike. He strokes his chin and slowly sips his drink before admitting that he has no idea either.[3]

Daisy offers a useful clue with her hunch that BCI “has something to do with a club”.[4] The group then guesses that the initials might refer to a bug club, a badger club or a Bolivian club. Paulo barges in with an insult whose words do not match the initials, and Abbey orders him out of the house.[5]

That leaves Molly with a comic to write, one vague clue, and no ideas whatsoever. Something at the next scout meeting is going to have to go very strangely indeed for that badge to end up on her sash...

Trivia & observations

Molly shouts "A not-nerdy answer, ABBEY!!" at Abbey, who frowns and sweats.
Abbey’s first guess doesn’t go over well.
  • The Scoutmaster tells the troop to make an “interesting BCI comic”, the same kind of members-only comic in which they appear.[1]
  • Molly is still rooting for Abbey and Daisy to get back together after their breakup in Love Again, and she has a drawing of Daisy in a wedding dress ready for the occasion.[4][6]
  • Molly hides behind Mike and peeks toward Paulo during his brief visit.[5] The main comic does not acknowledge her crush on-panel until New Year’s Resolution.[7]
  • This is the Scoutmaster’s only named appearance in the series.[1]

  • Door to Door: Another BCI comic built around Molly’s scout duties. It follows her on a door-to-door cookie sale, with Abbey once again roped in as reluctant support.[9]
