Bittersweet Candy Bowl on social media

Bittersweet Candy Bowl has had accounts on other people’s platforms since at least 2010. That year, the home page invited “Glossy Web 2.0 types” to follow @bcbcomic on Twitter.[1] Other platforms have come and gone ever since, and a few of the accounts are run in character as members of the cast. Tumblr

A February 2012 newspost advertised BCB’s cluster of Tumblr blogs as “our ever-expanding presence on Tumblr”. It named Taeshi Diary, where Veronica posted fan art and diary comics; Baggage Claim, where Oliver posted “interesting bits and pieces about BCB in general”; and the in-character askblog Ask Roseville High (askbcb.tumblr.com).[2]

Veronica and Oliver launched the official blog in August 2014 with a book giveaway and no name at all. They planned to “casually post old art and photos and reblogs”, the sort of thing they’d “been a little afraid to do” on their regular accounts, and to make it the new place to ask them questions (“sayonara Formspring”).[3] They posted 200 times within two months.[4] By April 2015, they were up to 932 posts.[5] By 2016 it was going by “donde esta lucy”.[6]

Twitter and Bluesky

For years, the authors ran what they later called “a very basic little @bcbcomic Twitter feed”. In September 2019, they revamped it into “an extravaganza of weekly stream archive posts, carefully posed comic thumbnails, updates from Patreon, and more”.[7] For the Patreon side of those posts, see Patreon.

Veronica and Oliver’s personal accounts, @Taeshi and @SuitCase874, sat alongside it in the site’s “Follow Us” sidebar.[8] By late 2025, Veronica’s link had switched over to Bluesky, at @taeshi.bcb.cat.[9] In May 2026, she said, “I pop in on Bluesky when I want to, read a HEAVILY curated feed”.[10]

Instagram and TikTok

The @bcbcomic handle is also used on Instagram, for an account the authors run in character as Sandy. They launched it in August–September 2019 and leaned into the bit in their newsposts. In a September newspost, they told readers, “Your girl might be gone, but there are so many pretty pictures planned for BCB fans.”[7][11]

The authors announced the comic’s October 2025 launch on TikTok alongside “a revitalized BCB Instagram” in the author commentary on Line in the Sand. They had found “the most amazing edits” of the comic and made Jace, their creator, “an official BCB social media intern (lol.)”. They promised stories and reels to follow. The TikTok in particular, they noted, “has tons of content that was NEVER appreciated and we want you all to enjoy it”.[12]

Facebook

The official Facebook Page launched in August 2015, and the launch newspost asked readers to “stop by, leave a comment, and definitely Like us! Our page is hungry for your Like.”[13]

Retired channels

A few channels came and went over the years:

  • Paulo tweeted in character as @HotSomali92, billed in the “Follow Us” sidebar with lines like “Paulo tweets too!”[8] The account was hidden on the extras page in 2013,[14] and by 2020 it was gone from that page entirely.[15]
  • Formspring, Veronica’s Q&A box, was linked from the home page by 2010.[1] The site swapped the link for Spring.me in 2013,[14] and the Tumblr blog took over as the question channel the following year.[3]
  • Veronica’s deviantART was linked from the same 2010 home page, though the account is long defunct.[1]

Trivia

  • The blog’s eventual title is (unpunctuated) Spanish for “where is Lucy”. When a fan asked whether it meant the authors spoke Spanish, Veronica confirmed she’s a native speaker.[17]
  • The old “Follow Us” sidebar gave the Twitter accounts rotating joke bios. Veronica’s account was at various points “One hot bitch”, “Knows a ton of spoilers” and “Made some cat comic”, while @bcbcomic got “Robotic but useful!”[8]
  • For the 2020 Kickstarter, the authors made countdown graphics “for Twitter and Facebook”, then reworked them for Tumblr on the grounds that “Tumblr is more irreverent than those places”.[18]
